Unrelated but there is a new site up at www.australia-2020.com.au and www.australia2020online.com.au Australia 2020 is a blog about Australia 2020 and news. Australia 2020 online is related to ways the internet can be used to further develop ideas and discussions for Australia’s future. Please give it a look if you are interested.
Are you interested in showing off the site that you have been working on? I am thinking of creating a gallery where you can put in your Joomla 1.5x sites and templates that are validated and show us and the world what can be done with it. We want to push the envelope here!! Highly complex websites that are still readable by the search engines but are powered by Joomla 1.5x and are designed well. We want to see what is really possible with Joomla and the combined smarts of the designer and developer community.
Let me know what you think either in the comments below or in the forums. If you want to keep it private, private message the admin in the forums and I will read it. Come on people!!
I was too eager to wait for suggestions so I setup forums. I have made an initial post to show you how you can make Joomla tableless, clean and w3c compliant. The forums are at a8ejoomla.com/forum and the here is the specific thread for the joomla w3c design tutorial. Please contribute and make comments so that we can all benefit from each others input!!
The past:
What was a8ejoomla? It was a version of Joomla that allowed us designers to create validated templates for Joomla. A clear definition is that it is “a w3c compliant, open source, content management framework”.
The future:
a8ejoomla now has a dedicated developer named “Kevin Murray” and he will be taking over development for a8ejoomla. Joomla currently has 2 versions, 1.0.x and 1.5x. 1.0.x is the version that Kevin will be looking after well into the future. This is great news for Joomla! This means that the older versions will have support for clean w3c compliant code. You can find all this at the new address of a8e.org
What about 1.5x? This brings us to this site. 1.5x allows developers to create custom code that is tableless, clean and w3c compliant. This site is going to be for all the 1.5x developers who want to share their validated code for modules, components, anything Joomla! This will help us all as we have a resource for w3c validated Joomla code to help us with our work and designs. Ideally I would like this to be searchable in anyway you want, XHTML 1.0 strict, XHTML 1.1 transitional, by component, module and so on.
Next step:
However I need your help. I am unsure as how to best do this so that these files are easily made available and found. So I am requesting suggestions from the community. Would you like forums? Would you like an uploadable feature? Post your suggestions in the comments below.
